Over the last week or so I have been inundated with emails, pms and seen about a million posts on forums about Pay Per Play.

Just incase you have been lucky enough not to be bombarded with emails about this I will explain the idea.

You put a line of code on your site
Every visitor listens to a 5 second audio ad
You get paid for every visitor

Wow, you get paid for every visitor!

Must be a winner..

bahh humbug

I received a email today from someone who wants me to sign up under them, they didn’t tell me how great the system was, so why should i sign up today (using their link obviously)

if you don’t jump on this and let your subscribers know, they’ll hear it from someone else and you’ll miss all of those 5% commissions.

In fact the system pays 2 levels deep, so I sign up under them and then all my people sign up under me and we both earn..

That is why the whole world and their brother are promoting this, it pays 2 levels deep!
No one is telling me that how best to implement it, just join.

I actually read a forum post yesterday that said “Some of the well known marketers (guru’s) are starting to promote this so it must be good”
Now I am ashamed to say that I swore, yes I am sure you are shocked but I used some rude words.

I am not guru bashing but I am also not sure that your sole reason for doing something is because someone WHO IS EARNING FROM THE RECOMMENDATION says to.

If I do sign up when do i get paid?

Bidding will open up on February 1st and revenue will begin being generated on that same day. You will get your first check in March and payments will continue monthly thereafter.

Bidding, so no one has any idea what will be paid, I tend to think that the price advertisers pay will fluctuate and that is ok.

- What about Geo Targeting?
I mean do Pizza Hut want to pay you for visitors from Romania (I picked the country at random).

-Noise
Thats how people may well see it, will they just close down the page? will you still get paid

-exchanging pounds for pennies (I am paraphrasing Dave Tropeano there I think) you get paid 2.8 cents (thats what it says on the sales page, although I saw a figure of 0.07 cents being quoted by someone else who had looked at their rate cards) for every play but what about all the people who shut the page down and go somewhere else. You lose the potential sale..

I am really sorry if this is a ranty braindump, but I think you can see how I feel.

I don’t mind if people sign up, I hope that when it starts paying out in Feb it pays out huge and everyone earns big.
I just want people to think a bit and also don’t join something just because a well known name says you should.

If you want to look at the sales page here it is and that is not an affiliate link so I earn nothing whether you sign up or not.

I will probably come back and add to this post later, but right now my thoughts are of changing a poopy diaper..
From one load of crap straight to another..hmmm

Geo targeting is offered to the advertisers they actually have the ability to target all the way down to the zip code level. Perfect for Joe’s Pizza (a fictitious local pizza joint) who wants to advertise their 2 for 1 special to locals that are online.

Because this runs on a bid management system we don’t know where bidding will start but with 66k advertisers competing, the price will go up automatically.

It is up to the webmaster where they place audio ads. We don’t encourage website owners to place audio ads in their sales funnels as this will distract potential customers from buying. Audio ads are only appropriate on certain pages and again, this is up to the discretion of the website owner.

There are many factors to consider in regard to Pay-Per-Play… Some hate it, most love it… The bottom line is it is a judgment call… Is it appropriate for your site?

Maybe yes, maybe no … Entirely up to you.

    Thanks Charles

I think I was more annoyed about the way some people were trying to promote it, which isn’t your fault obviously, no information just continual mentions of the 5% 2nd tier and I believe there is a 3rd tier payment as well.

I know there has been lots of interest on the mass building forums, ideal for people who can buy .infos for $1.50 slap a site up in 10 seconds and then drive some traffic from social bookmarking or something equivalent.
Shouldn’t take long to be in profit.

Do I think it is the answer to all our prayers that some people seem to say, but is it worth a try.. yeah why not.
