I am so excited that they have arrived and impressed that they are here so quickly..

I haven’t started viewing them yet, I want to take some time and sit in peace and quiet with a notepad and pen and then start writing down things..

They came in a really nice metal case which keeps them all in place and is a great idea..

Ok I am off to start putting furniture together..more on that in another post..

Anyway Carl Galleti thanks for the quick delivery..

Since I got home from Carl Galletti’s Internet Marketing Superconference one of the most common questions I have been asked is “who did you meet?”.

Now initially I thought people were interested in the other atendees, but then I realised that all they really wanted to know was about the “Gurus” , well the ones on stage in particular.

Rich Schefren (I shook his hand and I think he is a genius) , as soon as I get the DVD’s of the conference I will sit down and watch his talk again with a pad and paper in my hand and I am sure it will revolutionize my business.

Joel Comm - has made the absolute best out of the adsense game, I am sure there were people at the conference who earn more than he does, but he has marketed himself and his products brilliantly. He took the time to chat to everyone who wanted to talk to him and I think that in itself makes him worthy of a mention.

Martin Wales - now this is the man who took time to actually talk to me, and not just about marketing. He heard my accent , apparently the fact that I am from just outside London is quite audiable (sp?) , and was talking to me about England and my family. This made me feel like I am a real person not just a walking dollar.

We talked about places we had been and jobs we had done, and he talked about me..

Most “gurus” seemed to talk about them.. Martin was a bit different in that he asked me what I did , where I was going and what plans I had..

This may not seem like a big thing to you but trust me, it mattered to me.

Mr X - He took the time to not just talk to me, but actually spoke to my long suffering wife and asked how she was enjoying vegas and some other chit chat. That sort of stuff matters in the real world.

He is working on some very interesting ideas for affiliate marketing, and his is another presentation that I will watch again.

Ok so that is a quick sum up of the people that were on stage and who I was lucky enough to talk to..

They were interesting.. But do you know who was more interesting..

The people sitting around me..

I didnt arrive at the conference as early as I had hoped to on the first day, so I just jumped straight into a seat near the back said a quick hi to the guys around me and then started listening.

The guy on my left who seemed vaguely familiar was Frank Sousa - He is now involved with len thurmond on his latest product , but previously he was one of the first to offer a google site map maker.

Frank gave me a copy of his book , from Idea to $32,473 in 24 days .. Sorry if that titles wrong Frank..

He must of thought I was a nut case as I kept giving him funny looks, It was because I kept looking at the name tag and until I read the book last night I never could work out where I knew his name from.

I also met two guys who are starting up their own site builder - Page Daddy - I actually have some pics of me and these guys (will put them up when I get round to it). They are making a site builder (what another one I hear you say)..

The difference is that they want to build community into it, and they are also preparing extensive video back up showing how to use it..

But even more impressive, they have backdated the release of the product because they have got so many new ideas for things to do and ways to make the product even better.

I am impressed that they know they can make it better and want to do just that..

More to follow….

Carl Galleti’s Internet Marketing Superconference taught me many things , I have already mentioned two of the big ones in earlier posts.

The third thing I learnt is

I am worth more than I think I am

Not sure if that is the best way to put it, but nearly every speaker mentioned self worth and Rich Schefren actually had a slide up that said “Worthy”.

The internet seems to breed a cult like following for many of these “gurus” and I wonder how many people believe the guru knows everything purely because the Guru says he does..

I am not knocking anyone I saw at the conference, I am just saying we should all have more self belief.

Aim for the stars..

Just spend some time working out how to get there…

When one guy tells you something that is interesting but also deflates your ego a bit you listen but don’t usually take any notice..

When two people (who are rich and successfull) tell you the same thing, then it is a reason to listen..

When you get 3 people over two days tell you the same info, the hey it doesnt matter how much it hurts your ego you should listen..

Ok paul we get the message .. what did they tell you..

I have a job and I work for a mad man..

The job is sitting at home working on a pc trying to build sites, promote sites, get links, making products, writing manuals, doing logos, writing emails, dealing with support issues.. and the list goes on and on.. there was a great screen shot showing all the stuff we do a huge screen full of little boxes.. very scary.
Who is the mad man?

Well me of course.. because lets be honest if you put a advert in the paper looking for someone to do all that stuff (and more i have forgotten) how many would apply?

oh and by the way they have to be available 7 days a week, even when they are on vacation, and the amount they earn will vary from absolutely brilliant to “how do we pay the mortgage?” .

Do you have a business or a JOB?

When people ask me what I do , I have been known to say “I have a internet business” ..

I now realise I don’t currently have a Internet Business.. I have a job that involves the Internet…

If you are reading this then please ask yourself the same question..

So what are you doing about it Paul?

Well I am spending most of today writing this blog it seems like, we also went and picked up Buster (my dog) today so I have spent a long time playing with him..

I am also trying to find a new template for the blog, the one I am using is for 1.5 and I am having some issues with it..

Anyway (sorry went a bit off topic there) ..

I am a bit surprised at myself, I have had off line business before (and lost money). I worked for a reasonably big company (Bank of Scotland) in the UK and they sent me on lots of very good training courses on all sorts of things..

So why am I sitting here ticking over and not expanding my job into a business?

My friend Randy asked me a similar question a while ago.. What was the answer?

Well Fear of success, lack or self worth and lack of self belief all came into it..

(You are now thinking, Paul is a nut job)..

What did all the guys on the stage have in common (and I am not being rude here).. Ego

They preety much all seemed to love themselves, and that means that they assume everyone else will love them as well..

Ego also means that although they probably know that they can fail (and most of them did mention some failure in there business life) They seem preety confident that they can pull it together again..

I am sure I sound like I am being unfair to them.. But I am not saying ego is a bad thing, I just wish I had more self confidence/self belief so I am brave enough to go at this full flow.
