Someone recently asked on a forum what he should do with a extra $1400 he had.. ok most of us don’t tend to get $1400 thrown at us, but what if you had $200 spare what would you do with it?

Well lets assume that you aren’t going to spend it on a new dvd player, or the latest greatest Ipod and your wife isn’t pushing you to buy a stroller/pram/pushchair (oh how my buying habits have changed), for the sake of interest we will assume you want to turn your $200 into.. well more..

Asense /PPL/Affiliate

There are so many variables here that it can be complicated.. I already have adsense income builders in place so I could spend $70 on a years hosting package from icanahost and then buy 120 .infos to put on them and slap adsense etc on there and let it roll..

$70+$120=$190 leaves me $10 for a little cesars pizza and some coke to keep me going through the process..

Output well anywhere from $500+ in adsense revenue

You could increase this by adding in some pay per lead or some affiliate sales from the aforementioned sites.

ebay

Go round some Yard sales or car boot sales and buy $150 worth of bits and pieces and spend a sunday afternoon listing them all..

The extra $50 is kept to cover the ever increasing fees that eBay seem to be charging.

This method can be a bit hit or miss, Kathy has bought stuff for $1 and sold it for $30+ , we have also bought stuff for $5 and never managed to sell them at all..

Your own product
Write a ebook or get one written and start to sell it, make a video series (I am sure you can find a screen capture system for $150 or less and use the other $50 to pay clickbank fee)..

You could possibly get a small program made by a freelancer and sell that..

Now I am sure that some of you have some ideas for other ways to take $200 and turn it into more, if anyone would like to share that would be very nice.

My mum is here on holiday for a couple of weeks and having been in the States for over 2 years now it seems funny to hear some of the expressions that my mum uses.

Can’t put a old head on young shoulders!

No mum you certainly can’t..lol

Someone on a forum said today that if they had the tools that are available today 2 years ago they would have made millions..

Would you really have?

I bought a site builder about 2 years ago and built half a dozen sites and sat back.. I could see it worked, it got me up to $1k a month very quickly, which was far above what I needed at the time to cruise along quite happily so I never bothered doing much more.

I know of people who got their adsense income up to $5k a month and then stopped building..

What about people who released one tool and make a nice chunk of change from that so they stop there. the problem is that times change, site builders become less effective, Google change their algorythm and suddenly your $5k has dropped to $100 (yes I know someone who had that dramatic a drop).

Did you save any of the money?

Did you put any of it back into research or offline product development?

What I am trying to get across is rather than counting the money you have earned today think about what you can do for tomorrows earnings, or even better a month down the line.

Learn from history but just remember there is nothing you can do to change it, you can change the future though..

While at the Internet marketing Super Conference yesterday I was eating lunch (chicken and some tomatoe stuff.. I am on a diet so no cake for me) and chit chatting with the people around me.

One guy from Jo’burg in South Africa who is involved in casinos, one guy who is doing some interesting stuff with VOIP and allowing customers to call you direct from your website and a lady who’s husband is looking to do something online but they dont know what..

So there I am happily talking about blottos Brother, Jo’Burg and all the stuff that makes for normal conversation with people you dont know.

Suddenly the other lady at the table leans over and asks me a question..

How much do you charge?

Now I am 40 and a good few years past my prime so I guessed I wasn’t being offered money for my body or anything illicit..

So if it wasn’t my body she wanted what did she want?

She wanted to know how much I charged for coaching.. Now I hadn’t put myself out there as a coach or as any sort of expert on anything..

I didnt mention any income figures, and this lady was deadly serious..

We did talk a little and I offered to help her.. she said she would rather pay me and know I am there to help than take help on a “friends” basis and feel she cant ask questions..

So my question is..

Would you pay $500 for a 3 day course in to get you started?

Would you pay $199 for a small group meeting once a week for 6 weeks in your town, no more than 5 in a group?

I have been helping two total newbies recently and I was a bit shocked that one had joined a keyword list service for $57 a month and yet he didnt know what a reseller hosting account is, he had 2 websites, and is earning a couple of bucks a day.. but he doesnt know how.

To be fair he has been doing the homework I set him, and that is important, if you arent willing to do the things I suggest then you aren’t ready to have a adsense business…

Ebooks are great , there have been some very iffy video offerings lately ..

Would one on one, or one in a small group coaching really help you?

It was easy to earn money online..

We all come across stumbling blocks in whatever job we do, so working online is no different than any other job in that way.

The question people ask me is “why is it so darned hard to make a buck online?”

The answer is that I don’t think it is hard to make a buck, it is making a lot of them consistently that is hard.

If you are hoping to make money (or make more) online the advice I give is to:-

Think for yourself - Just because you read it on a forum or in a newsletter it doesn’t mean it is true.

Be Patient - It won’t happen overnight, no matter what you read in a sales page.

Consistent Action - keep at it, even if you only get one link a day in, write one article, make one site all that action will build up. Remember every great oak tree starts as a acorn.

Be positive - There are lots of people who always post something negative about whatever is going on in the world. Think positive and talk to positive people, if someone around you never has a good thing to say about the Internet, just avoid talking to them about it.

Ok thats all for now..

Watch out for my next post.. What if I had $129 extra?
